The first version of this iconic low table was created in 1937 for Charlotte Perriand’s studio in Montparnasse, Paris. Its base features three cylindrical legs in black-stained Oak wood, connected by crosspieces that support an interchangeable top - this example specifically offered with Marquinia Marble. This adaptability led to its appearance in several of Perriand’s later projects, including 1940s Japan, where tops were crafted from local materials, and in the living spaces of Le Corbusier’s Unité d'Habitation in Marseille.
