Copeland Light Desk Lamp in Silver by Stephan Copeland for Knoll

Designed by Stephan Copeland, the Copeland Light draws inspiration from the mechanics of a bicycle, translating its articulated movement and exposed structure into a highly adjustable desk lamp. Two pivoting hinges and a spring mechanism allow the lamp to move fluidly through a broad range of positions, balancing mechanical expression with practical task lighting.
Its distinctive dual-mode head can be inverted to alter the quality of light: positioned downward, it creates a smaller, concentrated pool of task lighting, while reversed, it casts light upward for a softer, more atmospheric effect.
Finished in silver, the lamp combines a steel arm, aluminum axles, a zinc-coated cast iron base, and a metallic-painted ABS shade. The Copeland Light received a Silver Award at Best of NeoCon in 2005.
