Brickburn Speaker in Concrete by Jacob Thompson Boyd
A study in acoustics and material experimentation, this compact sound system pairs a sculptural concrete housing with the familiar proportions of a brick.
Made in Montréal from concrete, PET-G plastic, and sourced components, its dimensions reference the UK Imperial brick, recalling those produced in Calgary’s historic Brickburn district between 1906 and 1931.Inside, a 20-watt active driver and passive radiator deliver clear, full sound with a frequency response of 100–20,000 Hz.
Music can be played wirelessly via Bluetooth or through an auxiliary connection, with enough volume to fill a large room.Each speaker is individually tuned and tested to ensure consistent audio performance.
As with any object cast in concrete, natural variations - including small cracks, blemishes, and tonal differences - may occur, giving each piece its own character.

All products are guaranteed to be free of manufacturer’s defects for 1 year after purchase. In the case of a product malfunction from a manufacturing defect within this period, the product will be repaired free of charge, with shipping to the studio covered by the customer and return shipping covered by J.T.B. In some cases, a refund may be offered. Please note that as many of the products are handmade, some small imperfections may be present. After the warranty period, products can be sent back to J.T.B. for repair at the cost of parts and labour.
