Incense Burner by Jeremy Joo for JDH Projects
A study in balance, material, and ritual, this incense holder is composed of a solid wood base and vertical post supporting a suspended incense stick above a raw iron bowl. The simple, architectural structure gives the act of burning incense a quiet presence, while allowing the ash to collect naturally within the bowl below.
Designed and made in Toronto by Jeremy Joo, a Korean-Canadian designer, the piece is available in Black Walnut, White Oak, Black Cherry, Ebonized Ash, and White Ash. The warmth and grain of each wood bring a distinct character to the minimal form, contrasted by the dark, unrefined surface of the raw iron bowl.
