A wonderfully playful, nearly life-size sheep sculpture inspired by the iconic animal forms of French artist and designer François-Xavier Lalanne. Equal parts sculpture and decorative object, the piece has a surprisingly strong presence, pairing a simple, almost architectural body with the familiar softness and character of a sheep.

Constructed from wood and covered in natural sheepswool, the body has a dense, tactile surface with subtle variations in colour and texture. Particular attention has been given to the face, ears, legs, and hooves, lending the piece a convincing sense of character while retaining its stylized form.

The sculpture remains in overall great vintage condition and presents beautifully from all angles. A charming and unusual object that brings texture, humour, and a slightly surreal presence to an interior.

This piece is not an authentic work by François-Xavier Lalanne and is offered solely as a vintage sculpture in the style of his celebrated sheep works.

The piece is in great original condition, OR has undergone a limited restoration to some or a few components, including oiling, polishing and reupholstering (if applicable), and more. Piece is in great vintage shape with few to little imperfections, including but not limited to, marks, chips or visual discrepancies smaller than 1”.

Overall the example presents extremely nicely, however does have wear in terms of staining over time and general age of the piece, but presents wonderfully.
