1960-1970s Production.

An exceptionally rare 1960s floor lamp by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, composed of fourteen individually handcrafted Murano glass elements arranged around a central stainless steel core. Monumental in scale and substantial in construction, the lamp reflects the experimentation with glass, light, and modular form that defined Italian lighting of the period.

Each glass element combines clear and smoked Murano glass with a richly textured surface, creating layers of transparency and depth while diffusing and scattering the light throughout the structure. The fourteen pieces are individually mounted to a stainless steel core, which provides the structural framework for the lamp while discreetly housing its electrical components. When illuminated, the alternating tones and irregular textures of the glass create a warm, dimensional glow that shifts across the surface of the piece.

Made in Italy in the 1960s, the lamp uses candelabra-base bulbs, which are included with the sale. Exceptionally heavy and finely constructed, it is a striking example of sculptural Murano glass lighting from the period.

The piece is in amazing overall original condition, OR has undergone a limited restoration to some or a few components, including oiling, polishing and reupholstering (if applicable), and more. 

One of the fourteen Murano glass elements has previously sustained a break and has been carefully repaired. The piece is secure and remains in good working order. Due to the heavily textured nature of the glass, the repair is difficult to notice when viewing the lamp as a whole, though the fine crack line remains slightly visible upon close inspection, as shown in the accompanying photographs.
