Vintage Bentwood / Plywood Dining Table
1970-1980s production.
A compact vintage dining table dating approximately to the 1970s-80s, combining a square coated plywood top with softly curved bentwood legs. Its restrained construction and rounded transitions recall the bentwood furniture of Alvar Aalto, balancing simple geometric proportions with the warmth and softness of formed wood.
The tabletop is particularly distinctive, constructed from plywood oriented to expose the alternating layers of veneer across its surface. The result is a subtle linear pattern that reads almost like a fine stripe, becoming more pronounced as the light moves across the table. Rounded corners and a softly finished edge complement the continuous curves of the four bentwood legs below.
Warm in tone and minimal in construction, the table comfortably seats four while maintaining a relatively small footprint. Its combination of visible laminated construction, bentwood detailing, and straightforward functionality gives it a particularly nice late-modern character.
