A beautifully proportioned vintage safari chair, believed to be of Brazilian origin, constructed from a substantial solid walnut frame with caramel leather sling seating and refined brass fittings. The chair balances a strong, architectural timber structure with the relaxed character of suspended leather, allowing the seat and backrest to naturally conform to the body.

The frame is defined by broad rectangular members, exposed brass hardware, and simple cylindrical details, while slender leather armrests soften the otherwise geometric construction. The sling itself is shaped from multiple panels of leather, giving the back its distinctive folded form and creating a deep, relaxed seating position characteristic of safari-style chairs.

The leather has been completely redone in a rich caramel tone, with the panel construction and stitching carefully recreated to the specifications of the original. Against the darker walnut frame, the new leather highlights both the construction and sculptural quality of the chair while remaining sympathetic to its vintage character.

A particularly handsome example of the safari chair typology, combining honest materials, visible construction, and an understated Brazilian modernist sensibility.

The piece is in great original condition, OR has undergone a limited restoration to some or a few components, including oiling, polishing and reupholstering (if applicable), and more. Piece is in great vintage shape with few to little imperfections, including but not limited to, marks, chips or visual discrepancies smaller than 1”.

Leather has been recently redone, though some small marks formed on one arm of the leather and on the side of the seat from storage before photographing.
