Counter Height Bar Stool 64 in Black by Alvar Aalto for Artek
2012 production.
An enduring example of functional modernism, the Bar Stool 64 was designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek in 1935. Offered here in the sought-after counter height configuration with a minimalist black lacquer finish, the design remains remarkably contemporary nearly a century later.
Symmetrical and non-directional in form, Bar Stool 64 moves effortlessly between residential and commercial settings - from kitchens and counters to cafés and bars. Constructed in birch using Aalto’s pioneering bentwood techniques, the stool features a circular footrest and the designer’s characteristic balance of utility, warmth, and proportion. All original labels remain present and intact.
This set of four is offered in pairs and presents well overall, with wear consistent with long-term daily use. Visible signs of age include fading to the black finish along the footrests, minor dents and edge wear throughout the legs and seat surfaces, and surface scratching across the tops. Certain areas have been thoughtfully touched up or refinished over time, contributing to the stools’ lived-in character and patina.
Sold in pairs only.
