1970s Production.

A rare Earth Chair designed by Brazilian designer Percival Lafer in the 1970s. With its low profile, generous cushioning, and rounded, enveloping form, the chair embodies Lafer’s characteristically relaxed approach to seating while representing an unusual departure from the substantial rosewood structures for which much of his work is known.

This example pairs a sculptural chrome-plated metal frame with rich caramel leather upholstery, creating a balance between the warmth and softness of the seat and the cleaner, more industrial character of its base. Deep cushions and exaggerated curves give the chair a particularly inviting presence from every angle.

The chair has been completely restored from top to bottom, including new foam and new leather upholstery carefully recreated to follow the original stitching pattern, along with freshly polished metal legs. The result is a remarkably fresh example of the design, restored to feel much as it would have when it left the showroom in the 1970s.

Around the studio, we’ve affectionately come to call it the Croissant Chair - a fitting nickname for its layered cushions and soft, curved silhouette.

The piece has been completely reworked, top to bottom, has undergone a restoration to all accessible components, including oiling, polishing and reupholstering (if applicable), and more. Piece is in perfect vintage shape with no imperfections imperfections.

Leather has been completely replaced with a high grade soft caramel leather, with foam and filling for the entire piece also replaced. The legs were removed and hand polished to the original manufacturer's specification.
